What was your ‘eureka’ moment for getting into sustainability?
My professional story begins in my youth where I was inspired by my family, community and nature to follow a vision towards a different world. I grew up in the Norther Rivers of NSW where I experienced a very alternative and in my view holistic upbringing growing up partly with my father on our permaculture farm and partly with my mother in Lismore the local town (a sustainability coordinator for the local government). As a result I had countless experiences and opportunities connecting to the land, nature and the ideas that we need to create a sustainable future. I feel incredibly indebted to the peace, beauty and privilege of my upbringing and everyone that made it possible. It has instilled in me the values that have become the core attributes of my character in generosity, determination, positivity and courage.
What have you been doing on sustainability since?

I am an Australian event organiser, communications professional, project manager and political campaigner who loves to work on innovative projects that connect community and address the big problems of the world. I'm recognised by many as a courageous and strategic agent of change as a result of his work in the climate movement, advocating sustainability education, opposing the expansion of coal and calling for just economic transitions for coal mining communities. With a long history of experience in the environmental and progressive movement, I seek opportunities to facilitate, inspire, network, research and organise using design rooted and systems thinking approaches. Having recently finished a Bachelor in Business Management I'm also looking to broaden my horizon with experiences in the government and private sector that are working to grow the new economy, invigorate democracy, address sustainability problems and fight inequality.

What’s your vision for reaching a sustainable future?
My vision for a sustainable future is one that embraces the values of love, peace, tolerance, generosity and equality. To reach this destination we must embrace a new form of pluralistic human identity that is united in its diversity. The balancing of the gender based value expressions in human culture will be critical in redesigning the structure and systems of our economy and society. We must achieve this rebalancing so that we can evolve to be able to utilise a more vibrant and thriving democracy with limited hierarchy. This we will help to create a culture that can overcome the fear, greed and competition of patriarchy to create a sustainable human living existence.
